Let's Bowl, Let's Bowl, Let's Rock & Roll

September means it's birthday month for the first child of the family: Caden.  So as soon we we got back from Melbourne, we found ourselves in full swing birthday party mode. He decided this year he wanted a bowling party.  Funny, when telling his friends' parents, they all asked me "do you mean ten-pin bowling?".  Of course, Australia, or at least Queensland is famous for it's lawn bowls, which is more like Bocci Ball. They literally have one in every suburb {which is quite a few}. Yes, he wanted ten-pin bowling all the way...so funny considering he had really only been once before.

So on Friday night we all headed down to the local AMF and got to bowling.  It was quite funny - and quite chaotic - watching all those little kids aged 3 to 7 trying to figure out how the game worked.  Luckily, for the littlies, they brought out the ramps that they could roll the bowling balls down.  But, not for the preppies.  Oh no.  They were hell bent to do it all by themselves...and some of them were really good.  I think one kid bowled 187! Overall, it was a huge success.

Proud to have been awarded tickets...what did he choose from the prize cabinet? A rubber cockroach that looks waaaaay too real.  I was not part of the decision making here obviously.

All in one place...at the moment.

Six years old!

I bet you were wondering how that blue icing worked out!

Yep, they thought it was pretty funny!

Cute Daisy.

The next week was Caden's actual birthday, so we had a little family party at home where he opened his gifts.

Please don't ask me why he has started throwing up hand signs in his photos!

the one-tooth wonder!

Our old Champions neighbors, Glen & Sharyn have been such wonderful, faithful friends to us.  They are almost like a third set of grandparents! This year they sent Caden {and the girls} a lovely box of birthday goodies, including this Harley Davidson piggy bank with American money in it!

Playing the new Wii, we promised him if he worked hard on his letters, phonics and reading this year.

Chocolate cake with chocolate icing and sprinkles was requested.

And happily enjoyed! Hip Hip Hooray!
